The “Yevgeny Svetlanov” State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia is offering a one-off concert at the Auditorio Víctor Villegas in Murcia on Thursday 19^th March, with the eminent pianist and director of the orchestra Boris Berezovsky performing as soloist in renditions of three piano concertos, Tchaikovsky’s 2^nd, Prokofiev’s 1^st and Shostakovich’s 2^nd.

Technically speaking, these are among the hardest pieces in any concert pianist’s repertoire, and only a true virtuoso such as Boris Berezovsky, one of the most accomplished of his generation, can perform them with aplomb.

Berezovsky’s professional career began in 1990 when he won the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Moscow, after which he played alongside Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Jessye Norman and the Leningrad Philharmonic under the baton of Yuri Temirkanov. Since then he has been a regular performer with the best orchestras in the world, including the French National, the Royal Concertgebouw and the Philharmonics of Berlin, Los Angeles, New York, Munich and Radio France. During the intervening years he has worked with conductors such as Antonio Pappano, Yuri Temirkanov, Alexander Vedernikov, Leif Segerstam, Leonard Slatkin, Dimitri Liss and Kurt Masur.

The concert at the Auditorio Víctor Villegas in Murcia on 19^th March begins at 20.00 with tickets available at between 25 and 35 euros. This event is not included in the “Grand Concerts” cycle, although season ticket holders for that cycle or those related to Dance and the Region of Murcia Symphony Orchestra are entitled to a 30 per cent discount on the individual ticket prices of 25, 30 and 35 euros.
