Mazarrón panto group raises €1,400 for charity with hilarious jokes and ugly sisters
Cloud 9 Drama Group's Cinderella had audiences in stitches at La Molata near Alhama de Murcia

A pantomime performance in Murcia has raised more than €1,400 for local charities while keeping audiences in stitches with cheeky humour and plenty of breaking wind.
Cloud 9 Drama Group brought Cinderella to life over four performances at La Molata near Alhama de Murcia, entertaining more than 400 people who threw themselves into the traditional panto spirit. The kids sitting at the front made the show, according to one audience member, and the script was packed with innuendo and characters including ugly sisters memorably called Chlamydia and Veruca.
The group, which has been performing in the Mazarrón area for around 15 years, invited four charities to run their own raffles during the performances. Friends of Mazarrón Animals, Camposol Community Shopping Bag, Andreas Animal Rescue and Phase 2 (raising money for Aspadam) shared the donations.
This year's production was scripted by Andrew Potter, who also wrote last year's The Princess and the Pea, and directed by professional theatre director Trudi Kingham. Word is she'll be back to direct next year's panto too.
The not-for-profit group relies entirely on volunteers for its cast and crew and has previously performed comedies, one-act plays and even a memorial show for the 100th anniversary of the Second World War. They've staged productions in Bullas, Mula and a school in Totana as well as their regular venue.
Anyone interested in finding out more about Cloud 9 Drama Group can attend their AGM at 2pm on Tuesday February 17 at La Molata Social Centre or email c9drama@gmail.com.
