Camposol Free Community Sports group news and October update
Camposol Free Community Sports group celebrates its first birthday and plans autumn activities!
September was another very busy month for the Camposol Free Community Sports (CFCS) group, including the groups first birthday, celebrated with a street party. The organisers would like to thank Mazarrón Council for granting a licence, closing the public road and providing portable toilet facilities, and thanks also go to local residents Terry and Cathy for providing electricity and of course to DJ Alan Wood and his Souled Out roadshow for providing some great entertainment on the night - not to mention the spectacular light show backdrop.
150 tickets were sold and 875 euros raised - many thanks to the team and organisers Sam, Sharon and Fiona for organising some very generous gifts from local businesses for the raffle on the night.
There have also been recent talks with Mazarrón Council and Councillor for Sports through a collaboration of Camposol groups, namely, Camposol 2025 group, Camposol Business Association and CFCS working towards improving Camposol sports facilities in general. All of the proposals put forward were welcomed and will be candidates for funding throughout 2024 and 2025, including basketball/netball hoops, badminton courts and pitch markings on the existing football pitch and new petanque courts, a padel court and community building with changing rooms, toilets and other facilities proposed over the 2024 and 2025 budget periods.
Unfortunately, there will not be another citizen budget participation scheme running this year but CFCS will be looking for other funding opportunities.
Stephen Deer restarted his fantastic monthly E-Bike tours, which you can all watch on his YouTube channel. Alan Wood has restarted the pétanque games every Friday following a break over the very hot summer months - details on CFCS Facebook page - and Rob Dyson has also started free circuit training classes on Tuesday mornings at the new exercise area which are proving very popular.
Walking football is held 3 times a week with mixed sessions in a fun and very friendly environment. Over the course of an hour you take around 8,000 steps, so if you haven’t tried it come along to the football pitch on Sector D and get involved, its great fun.
CFCS are still looking for volunteers and ideas to bring more free activities to the urbanisation, so if you have a skill set you don’t mind sharing or would like to organise an activity or event, there will always be likeminded people who want to join you!
Camposol Free Community Sports is a great group, with lots of fun interesting people and events, and remember, everyone is welcome at these events and they are all free, so join the Camposol Free Community Sports facebook page and come along and get yourself involved.
