The Tourist Information Office is open between Tuesday and Friday from 08:30 and 14:30 and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:00. Closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Information point on the Condado de Alhama Urbanisation: 15th June to the 15th September in the Al-Kasar Centre, weekdays 9.00 to 13.30.
Archaeological Museum Los Baños (a 2-minute walk from the tourist office): Tel: 968 630776. Open 10:00 to 14:00 and 17:30 to 20:00 from Tuesday to Friday and on Saturday from 10:00 to 13:00. Closed Mondays and Sundays. Archaeological Museum Los Baños.

Sierra Espuña: This vast forested mountainous area offers many opportunities to enjoy walking, picnics and the open air and lies just behind the town of Alhama. There is a central visitor's centre, the Centro de Visitantes Ricardo Codorniu, which offers maps, and general information about the flora and fauna, as well as several picnic and rest areas with restaurants. Centro de Visitantes Ricordo Codorníu: 968 431430. Opening hours Tuesday to Saturday 9.00 and 14.00 and 15.00 to 17.30, and Sundays 9.00 to 15.00 only. Access is provided for those of limited mobility. Click for more information about the Ricardo Codorníu Visitor Centre.
Within the park area are the rural districts of El Berro and Gebas, two attractive villages which offer multiple options for camping, overnight accommodation, restaurants and exploring the Sierra Espuña.
Sierra Espuña is also home to the Mariposa Hotel, which offers organised trips and activities for walking, cycling, kayaking, quad biking and clay pigeon shooting. Click Mariposa.

Monday 10th September
The tourist office, Los Baños archaeological museum and the Ricardo Codorníu visitor centre in Sierra Espuña are closed.
Tuesday 11th September
WEEKLY STREET MARKET: Open from 8.30 to 13.30 approximately, in the area around Avenida Juan Carlos I and the large patch of ground next to the Parque Cubano. Selling a wide range of fruit and veg, clothing, household accessories etc.

18:00 to 24:00. The Espacio Jóven El Círculo. This dedicated space for young people is located in the basement of the Círculo Instructivo del Obrero building.
22:00 Music for young people in the open air plazas of Alhama. This free entry concert features Alhabama Band and Inkordia. Taking place in the Plaza de la Constitución, in front of the town hall.
Fiestas del Barrio (these are local fiestas taking place within a district of Alhama de Murcia town. This is based around calle Virgen de los Dolores where the majority of events take place. See map below for location of events)
19:00. Children's games with "La Rana Verde"

Saturday 14th September

08:00. The Espubike challenge race in the Sierra Espuña, a gruelling mountain trailbiking race. Further information in the webpage www.espubikechallengerace.es
11:00 Guided tour of Alhama de Murcia castle. Click here to book this tour This is a Spanish language tour and requires pre-booking via either the tourist office or the Archaeological Museum. (see article intro above for links to these two locations and contact details.) The tour costs 3 euros for adults and 2 euros for children. Sunday 15th September
11.00 FREE THEATRICAL TOUR of Alhama de Murcia, visiting the most important historical sites in the company of costumed actors. This tour is in Spanish but follows roughly the same route as the free guided audiotour in English which is loaned by the tourist office daily on request. Places are limited on this route and pre-booking via the tourist office is required. There is also an online booking system. Click here for booking info

Fiestas del Barrio (see Friday agenda above for map)
09:00. Pasacalles with cabezudos. This is an informal parade with the giant papier maché heads which are called cabezudos. This takes place in several streets around the calle Virgen de los Dolores which is the focal pont for these fiestas.
20.30. Holy mass and procession with the image of the saint accompanied by the musical group "La Edad de Oro".
22:00. Night of copla and humour
23:30. Firework display to close the fiestas.
