ARCHIVED - Two arrested in Mazarrón after shooting dogs with pellet guns
A third dog has been missing since the attack in the countryside of Mazarrón
Two men have been placed under investigation by the Guardia Civil after they were found to have fired shots at three dogs in Mazarrón, and face potential charges related to maltreating animals.
Two of the dogs were hit by numerous pellets, as x-ray images show, and the third has gone missing after the dogs, which were on a privately owned plot of land, were shot at by hunters during October. The owner of the land and the dogs reported the shooting to the authorities and officers of the Seprona wwildlife protection wing of the Guardia were able to trace the individuals concerned.
The case is now in the hands of the courts in Totana, and the Guardia Civil again remind members of the public that if they are aware of any cases involving the maltreatment of animals they can report them using the channels provided in the #YoSiPuedoContarlo campaign (for example by telephone on 062, by email at seprona@guardiacivil.org or through social network sites).
