The Real Casino de Murcia will host the birth of the Regional Municipalist Movement on February 20
Independent parties and organisations will join forces in a historic collaboration agreement to face the challenges of the Region
In an event that will mark a milestone in regional politics, on Tuesday February 20 at 11am in the Hall of Arms of the Real Casino de Murcia, the Regional Municipalist Movement (‘Movimiento Regional Municipalista’ or MRM) will be officially presented. This new movement is the result of a collaboration agreement between various political formations and independent platforms in the Region.
Gathered under the common commitment to face the current and future challenges of the Region, leaders of various groups will sign a historic agreement, demonstrating a solid commitment to the continuous improvement of the quality of life of the citizens of the Regional Community. The signatories of the agreement will be:
- Borja Pérez Paz, from the Independent Group of San Pedro del Pinatar.
- Agustín Sánchez Mendoza, for Ciudadanos Villa de Fuente Álamo.
- Jesús Giménez Gallo, from the Citizen Movement.
- Manuel Reyes Crespo, by Pleamar CI
- Antonio García Sánchez, representing the 2es+ Platform.
- Antonio León Garre, from the Independent Party of Torre Pacheco.
- Ginés Campillo Méndez, for the Independent Union of Mazarrón.
- José Gabriel García Bernabé, representing Unidad X Alguazas.
- Jerónimo Moya Puerta, by X Cehegín.
Objectives and principles of MRM
The Regional Municipalist Movement was born with the vision of reconnecting politics with civil society, promoting efficient public management and defending the values of municipalism. The main objectives of the MRM include the redistribution of the Regional Government’s budget, the administrative reorganisation of the region, and the strengthening of the link between the political class and civil society, ensuring efficient and transparent public spending management.
- Budget redistribution: Optimise the allocation of financial resources of the Government of the Region of Murcia (CARM) to efficiently address the needs of the population.
- Administrative reorganisation: Implement a more effective administrative structure that allows for more agile and responsible management.
- Reconnection of the political class with civil society: Strengthen ties between political representatives and citizens, promoting active and constructive participation in decision-making.
- Efficiency in public spending management: Ensure administration of economic resources that maximises the benefit for society, eliminating waste.
- Defense of municipalism: Strengthen the role of municipalities in regional development, guaranteeing their active participation in the planning and execution of public policies.
A new era of local and regional politics
The MRM is presented as an innovative and unifying political platform, standing out for its focus on citizen participation and transparency. This agreement represents a step forward towards a more inclusive policy, which seeks real and effective responses to the problems faced by the citizens of the Region, moving away from the erratic behaviour and scandals that have marked the major national parties in recent decades.
