Playa de La Torre Derribada: San Pedro del Pinatar beaches
Playas de San Pedro del Pinatar, Playa de La Torre Derribada
Playa de La Torre Derribada, within the regional park of the salt flats and dunes of San Pedro del Pinatar, is a vast stretch of sand on the shore of the Mediterranean.
It´s 2.2 kilometres long with an average width of 30 metres, and is backed by the natural sand dunes of the parkland, giving it environmental protection status.
An attractive wild beach, it´s also an extremely popular area for those who enjoy a gentle walk, and throughout the year visitors and residents will drive to this beach to walk along the shoreline or follow the paths through the salinas park.
This beach has points of higher occupancy close to the parking zones, but due to its vast length it is very rarely overcrowded even during the summer, and those wishing to find a bit of space can easily do so.
There are no special facilities as such, although there are bins, footwashes, toilets and parking facilities at each of the access points, and this beach is not recommended for those with limited mobility or disabilities which require adapted facilities.
Access
Vía the El Mojón beach and residential El Mojón areas: there is parking in the residential streets of El Mojón, but bear in mind that this can be restricted in the summer months when there is high occupancy of the residential apartments. There are restaurants and bars in El Mojón within easy walking distance.
Via the parking areas behind the marina which is at the end of the main road running through the centre of the salinas. From the car park, cross the road and follow the wooden walkway down onto the sand or use the alternative carpark which is on the same side of the road as the beach.
There are restaurant facilities inside the marina, which are open to the general public.
Via a series of wooden walkways and paths which lead from a parking area half way down the main road running through the regional park. It takes about 10 minutes to walk through the salt flats to the beach of Playa de Torre Derribada, a really pleasant walk through the sand dunes and natural wetlands of this park.
There is a lifeguard facility here during July and August.
