A 64-year-old man died this Thursday when he drowned in a swimming pool in the Corvera district of Murcia. Several calls alerted the Emergency Services on 112 that the man, who was bathing in a private pool in an urbanisation in Corvera, had been pulled from the water unconscious.

The callers had begun cardiopulmonary resuscitation manoeuvres on the man while medical personnel, who were accompanied by several units of the Murcia Local Police, raced to the scene.

Once they arrived, the medical staff continued to try to resuscitate the man, but he eventually died.

Just a couple of weeks ago a 78-year-old man drowned on the Punta Brava beach in Cartagena.

Spain has officially had more drownings already this year as there were in the whole of 2021, and experts predict that as many as 400 people will have died by drowning in the country by the end of 2022.
