<span style='color:#780948'>ARCHIVED</span> - New 300-vehicle car park for La Manga del Mar Menor

The popular tourist destination of La Manga del Mar Menor, which attracts thousands of national and international tourists every summer, will have a new car park with space for almost 300 vehicles; welcome news for residents and visitors who struggle to park their car during the busy season.

Located towards the end of La Manga, on Calle Comercial Casino, near the firefighters’ headquarters, the new car park will have 296 spaces which are going to be free to use. The authorities hope that the extra spaces will reduce traffic and CO2 emissions as well as answering complaints from La Manga visitors who struggle to find somewhere to park their car every summer.

The regional government has provided 20% of the 742,000-euro budget for the 7,608-square-metre car park while the remaining 80% is being provided by the European Fund for Regional Development.

Included in the car park are six spots for people with reduced mobility and several charging points for electric vehicles, which will be added to the new electric chargers due to be installed in the municipality of Cartagena during 2022. An efficient rainwater drainage system is also going to be installed to avoid flooding.
