ARCHIVED - Murcia Covid rate continues to drop: pandemic update Jan 31
The incidence rate in the Murcia Region has plummeted well below the Spanish average

While new cases of coronavirus are still being diagnosed in the Region of Murcia each day, the transmission rate has certainly slowed down and this week, the all-important cumulative incidence rate, which indicates the number of infected people per 100,000, has dropped to just over 48.
Coronavirus infections
The Region of Murcia has registered a total of 155 new cases of coronavirus in the latest data published by the health authorities on Monday January 30.
This brings the overall number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 464,645.
Of the total cases, 91,454 have been diagnosed in people over the age of 60.
Cumulative incidence rate
The 14-day cumulative rate has registered another dramatic drop this week, falling to just 48.47 infections per 100,000 inhabitants. Crucially, the corresponding 7-day figure has also plummeted to 18.90 cases which strongly indicates that infections will continue to decrease.
This is now one of the lowest rates in the country and well below the Spanish national average of 67.58 cases.
Hospitalisations and fatalities
Hospital pressure has taken another slight upswing with 35 patients currently admitted for Covid (an increase of 3 since last Monday), of whom are being treated for more serious symptoms in the Region’s ICU (no change).
Five additional Covid-related fatalities have been registered, bringing the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis to 2,516.
Covid testing
The Region of Murcia has carried out 3,270,452 PCR and antigen coronavirus detection tests.
Vaccination data
According to Spanish Ministry of Health data, 92.8% of the population of the Murcia Region over the age of 12 has had a least one dose. In addition, 93.2% of people are now double jabbed.
