A 72-year-old woman was whisked to hospital after she fell into a pit on her property in Puerto de Mazarrón this Saturday.

The incident occurred at around 5.37pm on Saturday afternoon when the elderly woman fell into the hole, which was said to be about 2 metres deep.

For what reason there was a 2-metre hole at her home, located on Calle Jilguero in Puerto de Mazarrón, is not known, but emergency services did report that the woman was unconscious when she was found.

Police and firefighters were called to the scene as well as two ambulances, and the 72-year-old was transferred to the Hospital General Universitario Santa Lucía in Cartagena, suffering multiple traumatisms.
