ARCHIVED - Mazarron police issued 21 denuncias for illegal drinking gatherings on Saturday evening
Young people continue to disregard the measures introduced to limit the spread of Covid-19
There are now more than 9,000 active cases of coronavirus in the Murcia region, but as the majority of cases amongst younger people tend to be mild or asymptomatic, persuading the younger generation to respect the legislation set in place to try and prevent the spread of the virus is proving an almost impossible task in not only Spain but all over the world.
Mazarrón police published a photograph on Sunday after issuing 21 denuncias on Saturday evening to young people for holding illegal drinking sessions in the open-air and failing to comply with the “rule of 6” and hygiene measures.
Although the denuncias were issued in Mazarrón, very few of those fined were locals, the participants coming mainly from Cartagena, Murcia and Fuente Álamo, all areas with higher incidences of covid than Mazarrón.
The police thanked all the young people who are acting responsibly, but once again reminded the public that those who fail to respect the measures are putting the rest of us at risk.
On Sunday police in Mula broke up a gathering of more than 40 people.
