A 30-year-old man died in Lorca on Tuesday when he was impaled on the metal railings of a house in Calle de La Horca, in the Calvario district, in circumstances which remain unclear.
The incident was reported to the emergency services at approximately 19.00 when the owner of the property saw the victim, and when medical staff and the fire brigade removed him from the spikes he was already dead.
An investigation into the death has been launched by the Policía Nacional, with attempted robbery having been initially ruled out as the cause after it emerged that the victim may have been attempting to take a short cut in order to reach the house of a friend. The man’s identity has not been made public, but the Town Hall has confirmed that he was a Spanish national who lived in the district with his family.
