ARCHIVED - Fire in Cehegín rapidly extinguished on day 2 of summer fire season
Firefighters of Plan Infomur reacted rapidly to the call-out
The summer always brings increased risk of fire in the open spaces of the region and following a wet spring there is plenty of vegetation drying out in the early summer sunshine.
Plan Infomur began on 1st June and on 2nd June firefighters were called to Cehegín in the north-west of the region, to a fire alongside the river Argos in an agricultural area.
Helicopter support and ground crews rapidly dealt with the fire on the riverbank which was consuming dry scrub and canes in the pedanía of Canara.
Today the fire risk is considered moderate in most of the region.
