Corvera Airport gears up for its biggest summer yet with 20 routes across seven countries
New flights to Venice and Lille headline a busy few months for the Region of Murcia International Airport

As we get stuck into June, Corvera Airport is about to get a whole lot busier. The Region of Murcia's international terminal is set to add six new routes as it heads into the heart of the summer season, bringing its total operations to 20 destinations across seven countries by the start of July.
Not all airlines hit the ground running at the same time, though. Ryanair came out of the blocks early when the summer schedule began in April but Volotea took a more cautious approach, choosing to wait until the peak summer months before expanding beyond its current Barcelona service.
That changes at the end of June, when Volotea will bring back its routes to Asturias, Bilbao and Marseille, all of which proved popular last year, and launch two brand new connections for 2026, to Lille in northern France and Venice in Italy.
From July, passengers flying out of Corvera will have 20 routes to choose from, with direct connections to destinations in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Morocco, France, Italy, Belgium and Spain itself.
The bigger question hanging over the airport is whether this summer can finally push passenger numbers back to where they were before Covid. According to Aena, the hope is that 2026 will be the year Corvera breaks through the one million passenger mark again, something it hasn't managed since its early days back in 2019.
Between January and April this year, the airport handled 229,194 passengers, a figure that closely mirrors the same period in 2019 on the back of a strong winter. That said, April brought some signs that growth may be levelling off as the high season got under way, so July and August will be the real test.
On top of the extra flights, getting to and from the airport has also become easier. Bus services running daily from Murcia and Cartagena have been stepped up, with a total of 238 trips now operating each week.
