ARCHIVED - Cool wet weather on the way to the Costa Cálida this week as storm front moves across the region
Rain is forecast throughout Murcia between Wednesday and Friday morning
April continues to bring unusually changeable weather to the Region of Murcia and the job of the Aemet forecasters has been a difficult one so far, but they are confident that the latter part of this week will be characterised by cool, wet conditions as a low pressure area moves across the Iberian Peninsula from the Atlantic.
Tuesday will remain fine and sunny, with maximum temperatures reaching around 20 degrees in most of the Costa Cálida, but on Wednesday clouds will begin to gather and rain is likely to start falling during the day as maximum temperatures fall to between 15 and 17 degrees. The wettest and coolest day of the week is expected to be Thursday, when afternoon highs may be as low as 14 degrees in the city of Murcia, a good 10 degrees below the historical average for the time of year.
At the same time the amount of rainfall could be significant, especially in the south of the Region, although it is too early to say with any degree of certainty exactly how the situation will develop, and while the cloud cover will keep night-time minimums in double figures on the coast the thermometer could drop to just 5 or 6 degrees in Caravaca de la Cruz and Yecla.
By Friday, though, the forecast is for the sky to begin clearing as sunshine returns to the Costa Cálida and maximum temperatures climb back up towards the twenties in time for the weekend.
