ARCHIVED - Respect for covid measures in most of Murcia, with cemeteries quiet
Requests for minimal attendance at cemeteries seemed to have fallen on responsive ears
Although there were unpleasant incidents involving young people in both Murcia and Cartagena this weekend, for the main part, the requests to limit the numbers visiting cemeteries largely fell on responsive ears, and the many restrictions imposed by local councils to limit movement over the All Saints and All Souls weekend were for the main part, successful.
Councils all across the region reported low attendances and were satisfied that the restrictive measures and establishment of flow routes around their installations helped to limit the possibility of transmission this weekend.
Several local police forces reported, though, that requests to limit social activity were less successful and there were many reports of parties being dismantled, social gatherings broken up and fines imposed, with a large number of residents ignoring the limitation on just 6 people gathering (some of them foreign residents and holiday home owners it must be said), and residents from outside of the region still managing to find a way through to holiday homes.
In most cases, police simply dismantled, or prevented, events from going ahead, although in some cases denuncias were made and those organising gatherings of over 6 people, will be fined up to 3,000 euros.
