ARCHIVED - 1st February, photographer José Carlos Ñíguez offers a guided visit of his Mirada Oculta exhibition in Cartagena
The exhibition runs at the Roman Theatre Museum in Cartagena until 13th April
The photographic artist José Carlos Ñíguez is leading a free guided tour of his “Mirada Oculta” exhibition at the Roman Theatre Museum in Cartagena on Saturday 1st February at 12.00, explaining some of the images of often overlooked details in the Roman Theatre.
Pre-booking is not required.
An exhibition of photographs showing unusual perspectives of details of the Roman Theatre in Cartagena is being held at the Teatro Romano Museum until 13th April under the title of “Mirada Oculta”.
The display presents some interesting views which visitors to the museum would normally be forgiven for not noticing, highlighting the enigmas hidden in the ancient stones used to build the arena in the Roman city of Carthago Nova 2,000 years ago. Over 50 images transferred onto cotton paper are included, with series of pictures dedicated to the symbols of the Capitoline Triad (the deities Jupiter, Juno and Minerva) on the altars, together with the female cortèges accompanying them, Rhea Silvia (the mother of Romulus and Remus) and the stands of the theatre.
“Mirada Oculta” is the result of over a year’s work by José Carlos Ñíguez, a native of Cartagena who is a professional paediatrician as well as a photographer.
The Roman Theatre Museum in Cartagena is open to visitors between Tuesday and Saturday from 10.00 to 18.00 and on Sundays from 10.00 to 14.00.
