ARCHIVED - Aragón confines Zaragoza, Huesca and Teruel from Thursday
On Monday the region enters level 3
On Wednesday, the president of Aragon, Javier Lambán, announced that the cities of Zaragoza, Huesca and Teruel would be the subject of a perimeter confinement from Thursday onwards. This basically means that the borders are closed and residents may only leave the municipalities for reasons such as going to the doctor or going to work.
In addition, from next Monday, Aragon enters alert level 3. This involves the reduction of capacity to 25%, the closure of the hostelry sector at 10pm and the prohibition of consumption inside the establishments. Food and drink may only be consumed on outdoor terraces, with a maximum capacity of 50%.
On Tuesday the region reported 740 new cases of covid, the highest daily figure yet detected since the start of the pandemic, 495 detected in Zaragoza, 148 in Huesca and 88 in Teruel. The positivity rate of the tests carried out was 17.84%, a very high result. 580 patients are hospitalised, 506 on covid wards and 74 in intensive care.
