After the muddy rain and calima of the past few days, Andalucía faces more extreme mixes of weather this weekend, with a sharp jump in temperatures on Thursday before showers, thunderstorms and a cooler northerly flow take over by Sunday. Some areas will feel very warm, even exceptionally so for April, but the east will also have to deal with strong winds, dust in suspension and muddy rain at times. 

 

 

Thursday brings a dramatic rise in maximum temperatures, with Granada and Jaén reaching 29°C and many other places heating up fast. The western third stays partly cloudy with light to moderate rain and muddy deposits, while the rest of the region is mostly clear apart from some low cloud first thing inland. Minimum temperatures fall in the central third but rise elsewhere, and winds turn moderate to strong from the east in the eastern third, with very strong gusts along the coast and over higher ground. Yellow warnings are in place for coastal winds around Granada and Almería.

 

 

Friday stays unsettled, with mostly cloudy skies, showers and the chance of thunderstorms, still mixed with mud deposits. Dust remains suspended in the air, so conditions may stay hazy in places. Temperatures continue to rise, with minimums climbing quite noticeably in the eastern third and Almería reaching 30°C. Easterly winds remain moderate, with strong gusts in the east, around Cádiz, while lighter westerlies take over elsewhere.

 

 

Saturday looks more unsettled again, with very cloudy or overcast skies and showers that may be heavy at times, especially in the east, where muddy deposits are still possible. Temperatures turn down, particularly in the eastern third, and minimums fall in the southeastern corner, while the rest of the region sees a slight rise overnight. Córdoba and Huelva are both set to start the day at 11 °C, the lowest values in the region. Winds are light to moderate from the west inland and moderate to strong along the coast, in Tarifa and Málaga.

 

 

Sunday keeps the cloud and rain in the eastern half, with moderate rainfall there, while skies gradually clear from the west through the day. Temperatures fall again, more sharply in the eastern third, though Seville still reaches 22 °C. Light to moderate northerly winds bring a cooler feel and help shift the wetter weather eastwards by the end of the day.

 

 

The new week looks likely to begin on a cooler note, with the most unsettled weather easing at last.
