ARCHIVED - A grey and showery start to March in the Costa Cálida
Wind and light rain forecast to last all week in the Region of Murcia
Readers in northern Europe who might be hankering after a little spring sunshine in the Costa Cálida can rest assured that during the first week of March they are not missing out on much, with cloudy skies, occasional showers and unpleasant wind forecast to last in the Region of Murcia at least until the weekend.
The forecasters at Aemet are warning that any rain which falls on Tuesday could be accompanied by the red mud which is so often caused by Saharan dust in the atmosphere, and with overcast skies and a strong north-westerly blowing the maximum temperatures are expected to be between 12 degrees in Yecla, in the north of the Region, and around 20 in Lorca and the city of Murcia. Wednesday is likely to be largely similar although ever so slightly cooler, and by Thursday the expected afternoon high is down to 17 degrees in the regional capital as the wind changes direction to come from the east.
The unsettled weather is predicted to continue well into the weekend, and not until Monday 8th March is sunshine likely to return to south-eastern Spain.
