ARCHIVED - 7th February to 19th April, Lindes, Camino Memoria exhibition by Sonia Navarro at the Sala Verónicas in Murcia
The artist from Puerto Lumbreras returns to the Sala Verónicas after 20 years
The first exhibition of the year at the Sala Verónicas venue in the city of Murcia is “Lindes, camino memoria”, and contains works by Sonia Navarro, who thus becomes the first Murciana to exhibit here since 2001.
Sonia Navarro’s work was last seen at the Sala Verónicas in 2000, when she was one of those contributing to the “Germinal” group exhibition at the start of her professional career. Since then she has been an ever-present at the Arco fair and on occasion in the galleries of the Region of Murcia, and she now returns to the exhibition rooms next to the Verónicas market alongside the River Segura with an exhibition which includes a re-working of one of her best-known works, “Palmete”, created with women who weave esparto grass in the town of Blanca.
Navarro was born in Puerto Lumbreras in 1975 and has worked in sculpture, installation art, photography and drawing, constantly challenging the institutions which she believes create and prolong gender inequality. She studied Fine Art in Granada and completed a Masters in Photography in Madrid before beginning to collaborate with the T20 gallery in 2000.
The exhibition at Sala Verónicas in Murcia opens in the evening of 7th February and runs until 19th April.
It can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday between 10.00 and 14.00 and from 17.00 to 21.00 and on Sundays and public holidays from 11.00 to 14.00. The exhibition is closed on Tuesday 14th April, the day of the Bando de la Huerta in the city of Murcia.
Guided visits are held on Thursdays at 18.00 and on Saturdays at 12.00: book on 968 221668.
