ARCHIVED ARTICLEARCHIVED - 19th October, cheese and wine tasting at the castle of Jumilla
A medieval evening organized by the Jumilla wine route includes a guided tour of the castle
The wineries and other businesses affiliated to the Jumilla wine route in the north of the Region of Murcia are holding a special event on Saturday 19th October in which wine tasting is combined with the sampling of various cheeses under the guidance of professional wine steward Guillermina Sánchez Cerezo.
Wine and cheese are two fundamental staples of the Mediterranean diet, and have been for many centuries, and for this reason there is a medieval theme to the evening, which begins at 20.00 at the castle of Jumilla, which dates from the 15th century. Following a guided tour of the fortress those taking part embark on a series of tastings in which they will sample different combinations of tastes, textures, colours and aromas.
There is a limit on the number of people allowed to take part in the event, for which tickets should be requested at the Centro Cultural Roque Baños (telephone 968 958640) on weekdays between 10.00 and 14.00. Registration costs 25 per head an dincludes bus rides up to the castle and back down again - click here for details of overnight accommodation in Jumilla.
Dialogue is in Spanish.
